Have you considered Diminished Value?

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

After your car has been in an accident, there is no question that it is worth less than it was before the accident. Even if you are satisfied with the quality of the repair, you have suffered a financial loss. Think of it this way - if you were in the market for a used car, would you expect to pay the same money for a factory built vehicle, or one that has been repaired? Particularly when you do not know how hard it was hit or how well it was repaired.

Even a high quailty body shop is going to leave evidence of repairs that dealership used car managers are trained to find. And when they find it, you are going to be offered considerably less for it than a factory car. Most Certified Used Car Programs do not allow certification and extended warranty protection for vehicles with a damage history. Therefore it is not a car they are going to be interested in retailing on their lot.

1997-lexus-2.jpgIn July 2007, I was involved in a serious auto accident. After declaring my car a total loss, the responsible insurance company made a financial offer that would not even cover the down payment on a comparable replacement vehicle. Using the information I obtained from “I Want My Car Totaled” website, I was able to increase the settlement offer by 13% and my rental car allowance by 56%. I WANT MY CAR TOTALED membership was well worth the investment.
